How do I choose the hinge side and opening direction?

We view our doors from the outside looking in when determining orientation.

You can decide if you prefer the hinges on the left or right and whether the door is opening out, towards you or into the building when you order a personnel door. For fire exit doors, you can decide if you prefer the hinges on the left or right, but the door can only opening outwards. See our helpful diagram below:

For our double steel doors, the principle is the same, but you choose the active leaf, not the hinge side. The active leaf is the door which opens first. See below:
